Ever since Jimmy Butler went public with his request to be traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves, the possible destinations varied.

At some point last week, the Philadelphia 76ers entered into the picture, though GM Elton Brand said he was making daily calls about Butler. By Saturday a deal was in place and by Monday, Butler was officially a 76er.

Butler is expected to make his debut for the Sixers Wednesday night when they visit the Orlando Magic.

“I made this move because I feel it’s what’s best for our team,” Brand said at the press conference to introduce Butler at the team’s practice facility in Camden, N.J. “We have a championship window, and it’s important for us to capitalize on that. Jimmy is one of the best players in the league, hands down.”

Butler was officially introduced as the newest 76er after being acquired from the Timberwolves on Monday for Dario Saric, Robert Covington, and Jerryd Bayless. He played 10 games for the Wolves, whom he requested a trade from in September after saying he was going to opt-out of his contract and did not intend on re-signing in Minnesota.

At various points, Butler was linked to Houston, which reportedly offered four first-round picks. He also was linked to Miami and mentioned with a few other teams but after a few weeks of daily phone calls with Brand and Minnesota GM Scott Layden, Butler joined a team with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

“In my opinion, we have three of the top 20 players in the NBA,” Philadelphia owner Josh Harris said.

Butler is going from a 4-9 team to a team with nine wins in its last 15 games. In their first game since officially obtaining Butler, the Sixers improved to 2-6 on the road with a 124-114 win at Miami on Monday.

“We’ll find ways to make things work,” Butler said. “I know what I’m capable of doing out there on the floor. I think it’s going to be easy to play off the guys we have I don’t think the offense is going to be a problem at all.”

On Monday, Embiid totaled 35 points and 18 rebounds, marking the second time in three games he had at least 35 and 18 boards. He also made 16 of 20 free throws and leads the league with 14 double-doubles and has a league-best nine game with at least 30 and 10 rebounds.

“The way he has been dominating, it truly doesn’t surprise me,” 76ers coach Brett Brown said. “I will admit, when I come back and I see the stat sheet, I’m shocked at how dominating at times he is.”

Butler will likely slide into the backcourt along Simmons. Markelle Fultz has been Philadelphia’s other starting guard but likely will come off the bench, leaving Brown to figure out how to best use Fultz, who is averaging nine points per game.

Following a 120-95 home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 2, Orlando coach Steve Clifford said he sensed within the first two minutes energy was lacking. Since then, the Magic have won six of their last eight games.

Orlando missed a chance to get a three-game winning streak when it took a 117-109 loss at Washington on Monday. Following a 115-89 rout at New York on Sunday, the Magic committed five turnovers and allowed Washington to shoot 69 percent in the fourth quarter.

“When you are tied entering the fourth quarter and you score (26) points in the fourth quarter on the road, it should be enough to win,’ but we didn’t get to the stops to win it,” Magic guard Evan Fournier said.

Orlando’s problems Monday started shortly after its second 10-point lead in the third quarter. The Magic were outscored 50-32 over the last 16:17 and it was similar to a week ago against Detroit when they held an 11-point lead late in the third only to absorb a 103-96 home loss.

“It’s frustrating because this was a good opportunity for us,” Orlando center Nikola Vucevic said. “We had a 10-point lead in the third and we let it slip away really quick. In the fourth, we didn’t execute on the defensive end.”

Reserve Terrence Ross led the Magic with 21 points after getting 22 in New York. Fournier added 20 while Aaron Gordon contributed 18 after sitting out Sunday with an ankle injury.

Philadelphia has won the last four meetings with the Magic. The Sixers rallied from 16 points down on Oct. 20 at home when Embiid totaled 32 and 10 in a 116-115 victory that ended with Ross missing a game-winner 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left.

Cilic vs Isner

Cilic vs Isner, Tennis World Tour Finals 2018 John Isner vs Marin Cilic all matches, with stats on their H2H rivalry. ATP & WTA John Isner head to head tennis a crunch clash with both men in danger of elimination, world #7 Marin Cilic takes on John Isner at the ATP Finals in London.

In a must-win clash, Marin Cilic of Croatia faces off against John Isner in a battle of the big men. Cilic is making his fourth appearance at the season-ending championships, but he has claimed just one win from his previous three visits. Isner, meanwhile, qualified for the first time after a superb year that saw him reach the semifinals at Wimbledon and win the Miami Open in March. But will he be able to inflict more misery on Cilic or will the Croatian claim a second win in London?

This will be the 11th meeting between Cilic and Isner. Cilic leads the head-to-head 7-3 and dominated the rivalry in its early years, winning their first six matches, including a memorable five-set battle in the third round at Wimbledon in 2015. But since Isner scored his first win in Paris two years ago, he has had the better of it, beating Cilic again on the clay in Rome last year and en route to the title in Miami, although Cilic did beat him in straight sets in the first round at Queen’s Club last season.

Last time out
Cilic began his tournament against Alexander Zverev of Germany, ranked two places above him at fifth in the world. It was Cilic who made the better start, breaking early and taking a commanding 5-3 lead in the first set. But he could not take his chances and Zverev battled back to edge the set in a tiebreak. Cilic did well to stay in the match in the second set, forcing a tiebreak. But there Zverev pulled away, winning it 7-1 to wrap up a 7-6, 7-6 victory.

Isner’s debut in London was very much a baptism of fire as he faced reigning Wimbledon and US Open champion and world #1 Novak Djokovic, who has five times won the ATP Finals. Isner was under pressure from the off, having to save break points in his first two service games. He did so but the pressure told in his third as Djokovic broke through. The Serbian did not let up and broke twice more in the second set to seal a comprehensive 6-4, 6-3 win.

How do they match up?
Both Cilic and Isner are at their best when playing aggressive, first-strike tennis and getting on the front foot early could well prove vital in this match. Particularly for Isner, who is unquestionably the least mobile man in the field and will gain little from entering into protracted baseline exchanges. Cilic is rather lighter on his feet, but he is not a defender in the mold of Djokovic or Nishikori and will struggle to contain Isner’s power if he allows the American too much time on the ball.

One suspects that chances to break will prove exceedingly rare in this match. Isner was statistically the best server on tour this year, but one of the worst returners in the top 100, whilst Cilic came in at 10th in the serving leaderboard this season. As a result, being clinical when a chance presents itself and taking full advantage of second serves will be crucial. That may not count in Cilic’s favor with the Croatian currently struggling to find his ruthless streak.

Cilic’s loss to Zverev was just one more in a long line of recent defeats from winning positions for the world #7 in what must be an increasingly frustrating trend. Isner, meanwhile, was simply outclassed by Djokovic in his first match, but he played well when Djokovic let him and should take encouragement from that performance. He should also have enough to get by Cilic if their form in the first round of matches is anything to go by. Expect it to be tight, but for Isner to come through in three.

Djokovic vs Zverev

Djokovic vs Zverev head to head stats and betting tips. Make a free bet now at the best odds with our virtual game & odds checker system Djokovic vs Zverev ,Novak Djokovic will hope to build upon his opening ATP Finals victory when he returns to the court against Alexander Zverev

Novak Djokovic is coming off a straight sets win over John Isner that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Djokovic won 87 percent of his first serve points and 85 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic won 86 percent of his total service points and didn’t face a single break point. Djokovic was simply dominant with his serve in his opening match and even gave himself nine break points against the best server in today’s game. It just goes to show how dialed in Djokovic is at the moment, and he’ll cruise to a title here if he’s going to get 70 percent of his first serves in play the rest of the way. Djokovic has now won 32 of his 35 matches. There’s nothing more that needs to be said here. Djokovic has won five of his last six matches on indoor hard court.

These two have played three times and Zverev has won two of those matches. The most recent match was in Shanghai of this year, a match Djokovic won in straight sets. The two times Zverev beat Djokovic were in Rome in 2017 and 2015 exhibition play, neither match on hard court. All three matches have been decided in straight sets.

As if betting against Djokovic wasn’t an option, Zverev is not winning many of his second serve points, which forces you to like Novak even more. To beat the Djokovic’s, Nadal’s and Federer’s, you have to have nearly everything working for you and can’t have many clear weaknesses. Zverev has zero chance here if he can’t improve his second serve percentage
